: Horror Flick Chicks :

"Such BITING social commentary"

date: July 19, 2008

For a cartoon that is supposed to be zinging observations about the world, it sure does fit into the stereotype "everything is ridiculous" subgenre. Is it trying to be ironic? Is the woman supposed to be kinda stupid? Is the whole point that coming up with reasons to hate horror movies makes you look like a dumbass? I don't get it.

Despite witch, it is, as always well executed and has good comedic timing, I just hope the creator wasn't trying to make any weird sociological observations... I totally get off every time I cut off a woman's head while getting head from her for example.

Newgrounds Rumble

"No instructions anywhere."

submission: Newgrounds Rumble
date: May 30, 2007

So no help on how to play at all? I just press ASD randomly? Thanks a lot.

Author's Response:

Heheh, at different points in time, I thought it might be a little bit obnoxious to put TRAINING in capitals on the Play menu, but I guess some people still aren't noticing it. Read it over and you'll have an easier time.

"Just okay"

submission: Civil

Well polished and everything, but the basis is trite. The categories are FAR to broad, and the words are too obscure. Might as well have a category "house" and then have the word be "laserdisk player".

"Great lazy job kid"

submission: LD - Stick Stickly

Yo have no idea who stick stickly was do you? He wasn't a stick figure. You should have taken the hint when you couldnt' figure out why they were breaking him, burning him, or ripping off his googly eyes.

"Well made"

date: August 25, 2005

Terribly boring story and dialogue, but excellent audio and voicing. Maybe you could get some hardcore writers to make this into something groundbreaking.

"Waterman" Ep. V

"CU inspired toons can be successful!"

submission: "Waterman" Ep. V
date: June 3, 2004

Long sequences with little sound, akward character movements due to not wanting to draw more frames, rip-off of CU optimus prime drawing, and stale jokes. The cartoon is slow moving my man, and the constant flashbacks can be cool if done more properly.
But, the voice acting was pretty decent, and the writing wasn't bad. This was the first waterman that I actually found some chuckles in, but it was ruined by the drawn out silences between people speaking.
Get a better artist, get a better animator, and add some more sound.

"Very generic"

submission: Smile!

The "big brother" over developed society approach has been done to death. If there is one thing I have learned from being drasticly over-exposed to artistic expression, is that dark and depressing themes of a declining society and its apparent morbid inevitablity, is an incredibly easy approach to do.
Despite this, I did find this to be sincere, and well done. I did enjoy it, and that gives an excuse to be cleche.

The Ultimate Tutorial

"Baffeling"

date: April 4, 2004

You are teaching things that are in the flash tutorials for heaven's sake, only teaching it in a much more confusing way.

And here is a BIG tip: properly construct your buttons if you are going to make a tutorial about how to make them. (it looks like you don't know what the "hit" frame is for)

Author's Response:

Who cares im teaching it for newbies they don't really need to know what the hit frame does:|

Bob the Ball

"Meh"

submission: Bob the Ball
date: March 2, 2004

It was alright, nothing too special. The writing was pretty good, though unoriginal. But the visuals were incredibly unimaginative- the default poser graphics coupled with horrible photoshop effects really took away from the movie.
HOWEVER! I did laugh at points, and that is enough to be good.

Author's Response:

As for my use of the default Poser models: I had Poser lying around. I had Flash lying around. That's really about as complicated as it gets. Poser models look like Poser models, there's not too much I can do about that (without spending an arm and a leg).

And I'm curious as to what photoshop effects you thought were "horrible". Do you mean the lens flares? Cause the sketch effect is pretty good, in my opinion...

Otherwise, I suppose that was a fair review. Peace.
